This website describes the Geology of Britain project which has provided a unique and fascinating book as well as a comprehensive image library. The book is published by Springer Science and Business Media and you may register your interest if you wish via the contact page of this site. The image library constitutes a unique and beautiful collection of high quality images depicting the British landscape and its geology.

The Geology of Britain project was conceived and has been orchestrated by author and photographer Julian Ashbourn who resides in Hertfordshire, England, and it reflects his life long interest in the natural world. Britain has a most fascinating and varied geology, the visible expression of which is often strikingly beautiful. The book reflects this reality with comprehensive area by area descriptions, accompanied by some stunning photography which captures these remarkable landscapes as they are today. This work has been very much a labour of love, involving a great deal of travelling and exploring across the length and breadth of Britain. It has however resulted in the composition of a truly unique and comprehensive image library which, it is hoped, will be of interest to future researchers, both nationally and internationally. This website provides notes on the progress of the project via the news page which explains how it progressed from idea to completion.
